Monday, November 12–The Hotel Cafe, Los Angeles, CA– Haley Reinhart played the intimate showroom last night and it was standing room only–wait, scratch that–it was breathing room only. The American Idol singer songwriter performed songs from her new album “Listen Up!” and covered classic songs that served to highlight the depth of her abilities. Haley Reinhart is Ella Fitzgerald reincarnated. The crowd hung on every word she said and loved every note she sang.
By the time she belted out “You Really Got A Hold On Me,” done by–insert your favorite rendition Smokey Robinson, The Miracles, or The Beatles–Haley Reinhart had The Hotel Cafe eating out of the palm of her hand. Seeing her talent showcased in that venue was a treat of epic proportions. This Doris Day fused with Amy Winehouse singer songwriter has what it takes to entertain, perform and bring her best to the stage.

From Disoriented, setlist:
Wasted Tears, Hit the Ground Runnin’, A classic rock song the name of which I cannot recall, but she was GLORIOUS and she gave me chills, Wonderland, Now that You’re Here, Oh My (her version of the bridge is STUNNING) , Keep Coming Back, House of the Rising Sun.
Although I don’t think there were a lot of Haliens in the group, the crowd LOVED her, and I think she may have converted a lot of them! The guy next to me was filming “House of the Rising Sun” on his camera phone, and I’m hoping it gets put online at some point, because it just – it never gets old.
Haley is one of those rare artists whose voice only gets more magnetic and pure and gorgeous and rich and perfect when you hear her live. The complexity of her voice is stunning. STUNNING. I could listen to her sing live all day. And despite the fact that I’d heard all the songs many, many times, they were still fresh and beautiful because of the way she interpreted them. She never lets her work get boring; it’s always unexpected.
Selah Sue was originally scheduled, but a conflict (shows in Europe) seems to have opened the space up for Haley; probably the case for Montreal show as well and possibly the Cambridge show.
Not a lot of twitter chatter. This review on IDF. Setlist: Wasted Tears, Hit The Ground Runnin’, Now That You’re Here, Wonderland, Son Of A Preacher Man, Keep Comin’ Back, Oh My!, Oh Darlin’.
Haley’s in Chicago.
Haley Reinhart, the bluesy ingenue who placed third on the 10th season of “American Idol,” has parted ways with Interscope Records and 19 Recordings, a source close to the singer confirmed to Pop & Hiss on Tuesday.
“Listen Up!” was one of the stronger post-“Idol” efforts in recent memory. Though her stage presence was often criticized by the judges, the singer’s throaty growl showcased during the competition with bold versions of songs fromAdele, Alanis Morissette and Elton John was fully embraced on the disc.
Carefully crafted pop hits were traded for depth on the album, which featured the vintage piano-led single “Free.” The disc pushes at the edges of contemporary pop in a way most “Idol” veterans wouldn’t dare with heavy piano lines, horns and bright Motown-inspired dance-pop.
Interscope Records, the Universal Music Group label with exclusive rights to alumni of the Fox show, is not picking up the 22-year-old singer’s option for future recordings, a source close to the situation tellsThe Hollywood Reporter. Neither a record company spokesman nor representatives from 19 Entertainment would confirm the news.
